Northern Wave International Film Festival will be celebrated from the 21st to the 23th of October 2016 Rif in Iceland at the Freezer hostel and theatre. Russian short film "The Hunter's House" by Andrey Egorov is included into its competition. CinePromo submits the movie to film festivals around the globe.
The main character of the movie (Hunter), who lost his wife 6 years ago, lives all alone away from civilization. He has cut off all his communications to the outer world. His only “companion” is its dog (Marta), but Hunter keeps even her at a distance. His life is nothing but a row of the days, one same as another: hunting, cooking and searching for radiowaves on an old broadcast receiver. All that the Hunter has is his memories, and yet they cannot bring back the lost meaning of his existence. However, everything changes dramatically on one cold March morning, when the Hunter discovers that the dog has disapeared. He starts a chase after a thief and catches the criminal red-handed.
The philosophy of Northern Wave International Film Festival, upon which its name is based, is Nouvelle Vague, or New Wave. Like Nouvelle Vague, Northern Wave attempts to revive the recognition of film making as an art form and the director as artist/author. An important goal of the festival is to develop relationships between experienced filmmakers and emerging filmmakers in Iceland and other countries. We are a visionary festival that celebrates artistic and ground braking films by filmmakers who dare to take risks.
The festival has had an amazing reception in Snæfellsbær and with the help of the municipality of local companies the festival has been able to invest in a brand new projection screen that will continue to server The Freezer theater after the festival is over. It’s obvious that the Snæfellsbær and the local companies care about culture and see great value in it and we feel deeply grateful for their support.
