"Sneakers" by Sergey Solovyov will be screened on November 3-10, 2017 at Minsk International Film Festival “Listapad”.
Minsk International Film Festival “Listapad” is the biggest and high-status cinema event in Belarus. The Festival is held annually in November.
MIFF “Listapad” brings the world’s best films to Minsk. MIFF “Listapad” presents the best films from all over the world. Main Competitions of the Festival focus on new films created in former socialistic countries, including CIS countries, Central and South-East Asia, Baltics, Eastern and Central Europe. The best works from the region recognized by the most prestigious festivals in Europe are competing for the main award of the Festival. “Youth on the March” Competition presents a collection of debut works from directors all over the world, acknowledged by cinema professionals and audience.
7 International juries work at the Festival. The highest award of the Festival is “Golden Listapad” (For the Best Film), followed by “Silver Listapad” award (Film as an Art Phenomenon, given by International Press Jury). The third award of the Festival is “Bronze Listapad” (audience award for the Best Feature film).
More than 200 screenings take place at 6 venues. The majority of the screenings are followed by Q&A sessions with the authors of the films. Various workshops, retrospectives and exhibitions complement the programme. 40 000 people attend the Festival. More than 100 guests representing cultural and business elite arrive to present their works, become a jury member or give a workshop.
Founders of the Festival are Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Belarus and Minsk City Executive Committee. The President of the Republic of Belarus patronizes the festival.
Sergey Solovyov was born in Kem, USSR. Graduated from the department of directing at VGIK (1969, class of M.Romm and A.Stolper). Debuted as a director in 1969 with omnibus FAMILY HAPPINESS. In 1971 directed his first feature YEGOR BULYCHYOV AND OTHERS. Winner of numerous national and international awards. His best and most wellknown works like ONE HUNDRED DAYS AFTER CHILDHOOD (1975), THE LIFEGUARD (1980), WILD PIGEON (1986), ASSA (1987), TENDER AGE (2000) are part of the «Golden Fund» of Soviet and Russian cinema. Among the director’s latest works are CLASSMATES (2010), ANNA KARENINA (2011) and ASSA-2 (2011). From 1995 to 1997 he was President of the Moscow Film Festival.

Based on a short story "Paradise Found" by Andrey Gelasimov. On the eve of his draft day a youngster Sasha nicknamed Jagger decides to spend the modest amount of money he has saved to buy stylish sneakers. By chance the sneakers take him to a girl named Amira, with whom he spends the night. In the morning it transpires that the girl has a nine-year-old son Mitia. The boy is autistic and suffers from some other mental illness. Amira asks Jagger and his friend to help her take the boy to the orphanage.
