The film is about the Luhansk militiamen whose fates are retraced in the most crucial period of the war, having been gone in Donbas region for 4 years already.
The summer of 2014, the moment of truth, the death of Russian journalists, the hundreds of thousands refugees. The population of Luhansk is 700 thousand people, and no more than 1000 fighters defend it these days. Only later Russia would start helping the city, giving humanitarian aid and sending volunteers, but that moment everything depended on former collective farmers, mine workers, teachers and taxi drivers who took up arms, made their own unique military ways, became militia members, artillerists, platoon and group commanders and, by some miracle, defended their city. The authors of the film were shooting nearby their characters, often under the gun, but also gave cameras to the militiamen and taught them how to shoot. This film is about the Luhansk militiamen, about the thousands of brave people who were unconsciously writing the history.
