Director’s statement
The first version of the script was literally a sketch depicting a circle with characters passing money to each other: services changed, profits increased. Having studied the materials, I identified the most corrupt areas of activity, the cost of certain services, as well as ways to transfer money. This helped me to identify and single out the main characters and main action sequences. While developing the concept, an idea came to me to make this film practically with no words spoken by the actors. Leave all agreements on services and the amount behind the scenes, to show only the actions and reactions of people. I decided to put each character in different circumstances, prompted by Hegel: in one scene to make him a MASTER who takes money, and in the next scene he becomes a SLAVE, because he himself is forced to give up what he has.
ABOUT THE FILM DIRECTOR:
Elena Makarova was born on 05.03.1982 in Cherepovets, Russia. In 2004 graduated from the Cherepovets State University. In 2008 graduated from the Saint Petersburg State University of Engineering and Economics. In 2022 graduated from the Higher Courses of Film and Television VGIK.
