Anya comes to Bali for a women's workshop where she has to practice her seduction skills, and bring a man to the final day of the workshop to get a certificate. Director’s statement
For 8 years of work in the field of organizing and conducting women's workshops, thousands of women of different ages and social status have passed them with the desire to reveal their femininity and build their romantic life. Most of them do not know who they are or what they want, and they fully copy other people's value systems, behavior and even appearance. In my work, I wanted to explore the consequences of unwillingness to be a better version of oneself and endeavour to pattern oneself upon others. It is also interesting for me to observe the changing format of the relationship between a man and a woman in the era of Instagram. Often it is more important for them to convey a beautiful illusion than to build a family. In this regard, the setting was chosen and the title of the film was born. The island of Bali (Indonesia) is, on the one hand, a mecca of the esoteric world where neophytes from all over the world come in search of one's own personality, and, on the other hand, a center of attraction for bloggers of all kinds. The principle of "to seem, rather than to be" manifests itself here more than anywhere else.
ABOUT THE FILM DIRECTOR:
Yulia Trishkina (alias - Zhanna Zhelannaya) was born in 1985 in Moscow. Graduated from Russian State University for the Humanities. Since the age of 19, she has traveled extensively, visiting more than 25 countries, many of which she has lived in.
