An old master has built a dollhouse in his workshop where his dolls come alive. One day he brings over a new paintress doll, who quickly falls in love with another dollhouse dweller. The old man does not like it and tries to separate them.

Director’s statement
We started working on the video back in January 2021. Philip, the author of the lust Supper project, sent me a demo of a song from his upcoming EP. The EP was conceived as a tender song about love: “puns and pure nastiness are far sweeter if you say them”. But when I sat down to write the script, I thought that these words might, in fact, sound quite menacing, like an obsession. And so, we chose a slightly darker tone for the story than the song originally intended. Also, in addition to the mood of the song itself, I started from our friendship with Philip. I know him as a man who loves books and reads a lot. Therefore, I decided that our video should look like a film adaptation of a little-known story from a hundred years ago. Finally, the budget also imposed its merciless limitations. We self-financed the entire project and could only afford two locations for filming. I just finished editing a short film for which we built miniature sets (after all, the smaller they are, the cheaper). And thus, I suggested the same approach here: to build one very detailed miniature and mount the characters in it. This is how the concept of the dollhouse was born. We must give credit to our team of artists who built a house with four rooms, installed electricity and got miniature furniture to decorate the place.
And now, finally, after six months of preparation and a year of installation, our story about living dolls and about their old master is complete. What started as a story about a loving parent turned into a story about possession, control, and ultimately - the depths of human loneliness.
ABOUT THE FILM DIRECTOR:
Artem Verkhoglyadov was born on 12.01.1992 in St. Petersburg, Russia. In 2023 graduated from the Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University. In 2017 he completed a screenplay course held by STB studio and in 2020 basic producing course by Potential Film Company. Currently, he makes short films and creates visual effects for them.
