Valya has always been dreaming about living in Venice. She sold her Moscow flat and left. The younger sister, Nadezhda, stayed alone in the country house. After a few years Valya became disenchanted with Venice and returned. Now, "in a Chekhovian way", both sisters live in a house with a mezzanine, this is what you call loneliness together. They became stuck between the past and the present. Behind the gates you find the frightening and incomprehensible everyday life, into which you "enter each time like into an Odyssey". ABOUT THE DIRECTOR:
Vladimir Mirzoev was born on 21.10.1957 in Moscow. USSR and Russian director of theater and cinema, set designer, laureate of the State Prize of Russia (2001). Graduated from the defectological faculty of Moscow State Pedagogical University. In 1981 graduated from The Russian Institute of Theatrical Art (GITIS) as a film derector. From 1987 to 1989 he was artistic director of the Domino Theater Studio in creative workshops at the Union of Theater Workers of the RSFSR. In 1990 in Toronto (Canada) founded the theater company Horisontal Eight. He was artistic director of the group. "Russian Death" was made together with his students; it is a debut for each member of the film crew.
